Plans for vacant industrial unit to become padel centre in south Leeds
Plans to convert an industrial storage unit into a new padel centre have been submitted.
Lodged by PDL SLZ (Investco) Limited, the application seeks to change the use of Unit 22 at Millshaw Park Lane in Beeston into a centre for the rapidly growing racquet sport.
According to the application form, the unit is currently vacant. If approved, the new centre would be operated by Slazenger Padel Clubs, which currently runs a 12-court padel centre on Coal Road in Seacroft.

In a design statement, the applicant said the new centre is a response to the “rapid rise in popularity” of the sport in the UK.
“As participation continues to grow, there is a demand for additional Padel facilities, particularly indoor facilities,” they added.
“The proposal is for this unit to offer 13 premium indoor courts, with elite coaching and training programs, a pro shop and equipment hire.
“The customer facilities, including changing rooms and toilets, are all at ground floor level. The proposal includes an optional Pickleball court.”
The centre would be open to members from 6 a.m. to midnight, seven days a week.
No additional parking is proposed. The roughly 4,800 sqm unit currently includes 74 standard parking bays, eight EV charging bays, and two accessible bays. No external alterations to the unit are planned.
The application is open for public comment until Monday, April 13, with a determination deadline set for Monday, June 22.
