Eight courts will be created at the site at Cross Green Court, along with a cafe and public seating area.

A Leeds City Council planning officer’s report said jobs would be created.

It said: “The proposal would result in the re-use of an existing vacant unit and provides a valuable leisure offering to the general public.”

Electric vehicle charging points would be provided at the site, which is near bus routes and already has more than 50 parking spaces.

The council report said: “This is considered to be sufficient to meet the expected car parking demand of the development, with ample remaining space to create further parking bays if necessary.

“In addition, the site provides sufficient long and short stay cycle storage to meet the expected demand.”

A design report by Bowman Riley architects said there were already indoor sports facilities on the industrial estate, including nearby Football World.

It said: “The new facility will be a fantastic addition to the area, providing Leeds residents with an excellent facility to enjoy this fast-growing and increasingly popular sport.”
