Former Victorian Leeds care home could become alcohol rehab centre under new plans
A former care home could be turned into an alcohol rehabilitation centre if plans are agreed with the council.
Care organisation St Anne’s Community Services is seeking permission to convert Dyneley House, in Chapel Allerton, into a treatment facility.
The two-storey Victorian property on Allerton Hill was previously a 24-bed residential home.
A design report said: “The site, formerly operating as a care home, is intended to operate as an alcohol rehabilitation centre.
“The home benefits from a lounge area, office, kitchen and bedrooms internally, with no material changes to the building proposed.”
The report said roads were safe around the property and staff and patients would be able to use public transport.
It said: “The site is in a sustainable location within the urban area of Leeds and makes efficient use of existing transport infrastructure.
“Given the accessible location of the site, future staff and patients will have significant opportunity to travel by modes other than the private car, including walking, cycling and public transport.”
Leeds City Council is considering a change-of-use planning application for the scheme.
