A Grade II-listed site of shops and offices at 37-41 Kirkgate in Otley is set to be sold at auction.

The property, part of the Otley Conservation Area, is being marketed for sale by auction firm BTG Eddisons.

Part of the site, Sterling House, was made up of self-contained ground floor shops, one currently occupied by a hairdresser’s, the auction site said.

It said: “One is trading as Antalya Barbers and the other is currently vacant.

“The upper three floors consist of former office space divided into several private and general offices.”

The other parts of the site were a two-storey office block to the rear and another building known as Victoria Yard.

The online listing said: “The building, which was previously used a recording studio, would be suitable for a variety of uses including residential conversion.”

Bidders were invited to an online auction on July 29 with a guide price for the site of £650,000-plus.

Redevelopment of the site next to the Red Lion pub may require planning and listed building consent from Leeds City Council.

The auction site said: “The property is conveniently situated, fronting Kirkgate in the centre of Otley.

“The immediate area is mixed in nature with retail, residential properties and restaurants within close proximity.

“The A659 provides access to the Pool in Wharfedale and Harrogate as well as the A1.”
