Historic Wetherspoon pub in Leeds town set for renovations to fix leaky roof
The building dates back to the 1750s
A Leeds town’s historic Wetherspoon pub will have its leaky roof fixed after plans were agreed with the council.
Planning permission was sought for repairs on the Grade II-listed Bowling Green pub in Otley.
The project will see a roof lantern replaced after listed building consent was granted by Leeds City Council.

A design report said the pub was a former courthouse and school which dates back to the 1750s.
Its condition had deteriorated since it was opened as a pub by JD Wetherspoon in 2010.
The report said: “The property underwent considerable refurbishment and extension works in 2022.
“Several leaks have since been identified within the property which are considered to be due to faults with the roof lantern and surrounding flat roof.”
Part of the roof will be raised and air conditioning units will be replaced.
A council planning officer’s report said there would be a minimal visual impact on the building on Bondgate.
It said: “Overall, it is considered that the impact of the proposed works on the special character of the listed building would be limited and are considered to be acceptable.
“It is also considered that the proposed changes would assist in the retention of the building in beneficial use.”
