How you can have your say on Leeds' future as council launches consultation on major planning blueprint
The plan will steer development across the city until 2043
Leeds locals are being urged to have their say on a major planning blueprint that will guide where thousands of new homes, businesses and services could be built over the next two decades.
Leeds City Council has opened up the next stage of consultation on its Leeds Local Plan, which will steer development across the city until 2043.
A six-week consultation will run until August 5, focused on the plan’s overall purpose and direction, as well as how locals would like to be involved in having their say.

At this stage, the consultation does not include specific sites or detailed policy options.
A further round of consultation is expected this winter, which will include an opportunity to comment on potential site allocations and draft policy options.
Comments submitted during the previous round of consultation will be taken on board, the council said.
Councillor Peter Carlill, Leeds City Council’s executive member for transport and planning, said: “We want to hear from as many people as possible as we shape the future of Leeds through the Local Plan.
“This is an important opportunity for residents, businesses and communities to share their views on how we plan for growth and development across the city.
“All feedback received so far will continue to help shape the plan, and this further consultation reflects changes to national policy, ensuring we take the right approach as the plan progresses.
“By taking part, people can help ensure the Local Plan reflects the needs and priorities of Leeds both now and in the years ahead.”
