Leeds car park charges to be reviewed after bringing in almost £340k a year
Free parking was scrapped for six car parks last year
Parking charges introduced in town centres around Leeds are estimated to be raising the council almost £340,000 a year.
Leeds City Council is set to carry out a review of the charges in car parks in Wetherby, Horsforth, Guiseley and Rothwell.
Drivers have been required to pay to use five car parks since October last year.

The council’s executive board is set to press ahead with a review examining the economic impact of the charges.
A report to next week’s executive board meeting said: “The proposed review will provide a comprehensive assessment of the impact of the scheme across these locations, including financial performance, usage and wider local impacts.”
Wilderness and Station Gardens car parks in Wetherby were subject to the charges.
Fink Hill in Horsforth, Barley Road in Garforth, Rothwell’s Marsh Street and Netherfield Road in Guiseley were also included.
Charges apply after parking for one hour, up to a maximum daily charge of £3.65. Weekly tickets cost £12.15.
The report said the charges were helping the council raise funds and pay for maintenance of the car parks.
The review of the charges is set to be launched in August and findings will be set out in a report to the executive board in November.
The report said: “Any future changes to charging arrangements may have financial implications which will need to be considered alongside budget requirements.
“Estimated income from district car park charging is currently in the region of £337,000 per annum.”
Councillors will discuss the proposed review at the next executive board meeting at Leeds Civic Hall on Wednesday.
