New plans to demolish Leeds market town shopping parade
Plans to demolish shopping parade in Leeds market town
New plans have been drawn up to demolish a shopping parade in Otley after permission was refused by the council.

A row of shops dating back to 1924 would be knocked down if Leeds City Council approves the latest proposal.
Council bosses blocked the demolition last month, saying the applicant had given insufficient information on the impact of the plan.
Now a new planning application is being considered by council officers.
A council planning report said: “The application is to demolish a parade of shops and flats located at Weston Lane in Otley
“The parade is of traditional brick and tile construction, with stone detailing.
“A stone plaque to the front elevation indicates that the parade was constructed in 1924.”
The council said two letters of objection to the first demolition application were received.
They raised concerns including the loss of shops and flats in the area.
The council also said more details were needed on the impact on traffic, the method of demolition, dust control and site restoration.
Planning firm Johnson Mowat, named as the applicant, said demolition works would be carried out between 8am-4.30pm, Monday to Friday, over four weeks.
The company’s letter to the council said: “No demolition will take place on Saturday or Sunday.”
Following demolition, the site would be top soiled and seeded to ensure it blends in with its surroundings.
The current demolition application is out for consultation until May 20.
