Plans unveiled to transform former Leeds pub into flats and a shop

The former pub is within a conservation area

A former town centre pub in Leeds could be turned into homes if plans can be agreed with the city council.

Permission is sought for the conversion of the former Borough Arms in Morley into four apartments and a shop unit.

A planning report said flats would be created on the upper floor of the building on Albion Street.

It said: “The scheme represents a sustainable re-use of an existing building, ensuring its continued viable use.

“The building has historically operated as a public house and has undergone internal alterations over time.”

Greens Commercial Holdings is seeking full planning permission for the development, which is within the Morley Conservation area.

The report said the scheme would be designed to be in keeping with its surroundings.

It said: “The proposals have been carefully designed to minimise impact on the building and the wider conservation area.”

Leeds City Council is considering planning permission for the proposal, which is out for consultation until May 20.
