Revolution Call Lane: Popular Leeds bar set to be transformed into pub with live music and food

The Grade-II listed building would be altered

A popular Leeds city centre bar is set to be re-branded if plans to convert the building are agreed with the council.

A planning application has been submitted to turn Revolution, on Call Lane, into Bonnie Rogues Pub.

Bar firm NEOS Hospitality has asked Leeds City Council to approve alterations to the Grade II-listed building.

A design report said: “Forty-eight Call Lane is an established public house occupying a prominent frontage in Leeds city centre.

“Historic England identifies the building as a mid-18th-century house with a probably later warehouse, now in commercial use.”

Plans include re-painting of the shopfront, replacement doors and installation of fabric awnings on the building.

Bonnie Rogues already operates venues in Bristol, Cardiff, Kingston upon Thames and Swansea.

On it’s website the chain describes itself as a “premium party venue”, offering happy hour drinks, live music and pub food.

The application for “external rebranding of the existing Revolution Bar as Bonnie Rogues Pub” is out for consultation until August 26.

A number of Revolution bars closed earlier this year, including Revolution Electric Press in Millennium Square, after its parent company The Revel Collective entered administration.

The company said it has been hit by a combination of higher operating costs, including energy and wages, alongside more cautious consumer spending. Younger customers, in particular, are going out less often as budgets tighten.
