Wakefield pub issued with closure notice over serious assault
A Wakefield pub could lose its licence after police launched an investigation following a serious assault at the premises.
West Yorkshire Police called for the premises licence for The Little ‘Un, in South Elmsall, to be placed under review following the incident earlier this year.
Documents submitted to Wakefield Council said officers were “made aware of a serious assault that had taken place following an incident at the premises” on January 26.
Police licensing officers attended the venue to carry out a compliance check “which highlighted several breaches of the current operating schedule.”

A report said a closure notice was issued for the premises following the visit.
The statement by police licensing officer PC Toby Warden said: “There was also some confusion regarding the named designated premises supervisor which couldn’t be confirmed on this visit.”
Police requested a council licensing sub-committee review the licence on the grounds of “prevention of crime and disorder.”
A hearing is scheduled to take place at Wakefield Town Hall on March 26.
PC Warden said further details of the police investigation would be submitted at the meeting.
The officer added: “West Yorkshire Police believe this falls well below the standard of management required to run a licensed premises and shows a serious failing in the promotion of the licensing objectives with the lack of any controls taking place.”
Councillors have powers to revoke or suspended the licence, remove the designated supervisor or modify licence conditions.
