Warning as unauthorised Halloween ‘scarefest’ advertised at Leeds stately home

⚠️ The advertised event is not taking place

People in Leeds have been urged to remain vigilant after an unauthorised Halloween event was advertised at a stately home.

A ‘scarefest’ event, named Temple Newsam After Dark, was listed as taking place at Temple Newsam House.

Tickets were advertised by Haunted Halloween Escape, despite the council confirming that the event had not been approved by its site team.

The website, hauntedhalloweenescape.co.uk, is now unavailable for ‘maintenance’ - but the Haunted Halloween Escape Facebook page still advertises upcoming Halloween events, including in Leeds.

A spokesperson for Leeds City Council said: “We were made aware of a Halloween event being advertised at Temple Newsam which had not been organised or authorised by our site team.

“As a result, we contacted the organisers via their website to ask that the event be deleted and have also posted a message on our social media channels making users aware that this was not a legitimate event.”

The council urged the public to book tickets through its official websites where possible, including Leeds Museums and Galleries and Leeds Ticket Hub.

Haunted Halloween Escape was contacted for comment.
