'Greater community safety': What the Morley Independents pledge ahead of the Leeds local elections
Ahead of the Leeds City Council elections, we’re running election comments from the major political parties. Here’s what the Morley Borough Independents had to say.
An independent party has pledged to boost community safety by working more closely with the police in a Leeds town.
Morley Borough Independents set out their aims ahead of the May 7 local elections.
Morley North candidate Terry Grayshon said more affordable homes and measures to help families with the cost of living were among the priorities.

Mr Grayshon said: “To support greater community safety across all communities by working in partnership with Morley Neighbourhood Policing Team.
“To bring additional patrols and working with the anti-social behaviour team to reduce levels of crime across all communities.
“This would include a focus on crime prevention.”
Mr Grayshon would represent communities in Churwell, Drighlington, Gildersome and Morley if elected.
He said he wanted to work with developers to deliver environmentally-sustainable affordable homes.
Reduced domestic fuel bills could be achieved through improved draught proofing in homes, Mr Grayshon said.
He also wanted to work with Morley Learning and Skills Centre to “give communities the options to up-skill and gain better paid jobs.”
Local election results will be announced on Friday, May 8, following Thursday’s vote.
