Recap after Leeds City Council approved major Elland Road expansion in 'historic day' for football club
Plans to significantly expand Elland Road football stadium have been approved by councillors.
Leeds United and its owners, 49ers Enterprises, submitted plans last summer to upgrade the stadium’s capacity from 37,645 to around 53,000, making it the seventh largest football ground in England.

The club will now be able to begin work on the West Stand and develop plans for the North Stand.
Issues around parking, traffic and disruption with nearby residents highlighted by councillors during the meeting before members voted through the plans by 11 votes to one.
Supporters have also been wildly in favour of the plans, with the club saying that 98% of those who responded to a consultation supporting the design plans.
The City Plans Portal meeting will begin at 1.30pm, with the Elland Road application the second of two planning matters to be discussed. Follow the latest updates in the build up to the meeting and during the discussion in the live blog below.
