This former council office site in Roundhay, Leeds, has been earmarked for housing
A former council office site could be redeveloped into housing after being put on the market.
Leeds City Council said it would sell the vacant plot of land off Elmete Lane in Roundhay at auction.
The site was used as council offices before buildings were demolished in 2012, a council report said.
It said: “A disposal of the site will likely result in a new development on a previously brownfield piece of land, which could result in a new use for the community either through residential development or other use.”
A sale would raise cash for the council and avoid future costs of looking after the site.
The report said: “The site is surplus to council requirements and no reason has been identified to justify its retention.”
An auction reserve price would be decided at a later date, the report said.
It said: “In the unlikely event of a purchaser not being secured at auction the reserve can be reviewed and the site re-auctioned, or alternative methods of sale considered.”
