Here are all the streets in Leeds city centre set to become 20mph under new proposals

A host of streets in Leeds city centre are set to face a speed reduction.

As part of long-standing ambitions to improve Transport and Infrastructure and Health & Wellbeing, Leeds City Council has proposed the introduction of multiple 20 mph speed limits across the city centre.

These speed limits are an “integral component” of the Council’s Safer Roads Action Plan and contribute significantly to the Vision Zero 2040 strategy, which aims for zero road deaths or serious injuries in Leeds by 2040.

It is hoped that this reduction, alongside the pedestrianisation of Leeds City Square in 2023, will encourage more walking and cycling through the centre. Members of the public can comment on or object to these plans on Leeds City Council’s planning website up to Monday, December 1.
