Disruption as repairs and resurfacing works get underway at Dawsons Corner in Leeds for four weeks

The works have been scheduled during the school summer holidays

Motorists are being warned to expect disruption at Dawsons Corner over the next four weeks.

From today (Monday, July 27) to Tuesday, August 26, road repairs and resurfacing will be carried out on the Stanningley Bypass as part of the £44.1m Dawsons Corner improvement scheme.

The works have been scheduled during the school summer holidays, when traffic levels are typically lower, helping to reduce disruption wherever possible. However, delays are expected, particularly at peak times.

To keep traffic moving while work is carried out safely, drivers will see:

  • Contraflow traffic management
  • A temporary 30mph speed limit
  • Some overnight and partial road closures
  • Signed diversion routes where needed

Motorists can expect traffic management in place 24/7, including the contraflow system - where traffic travels in the opposite direction on part of the carriageway.

Full overnight closures on Stanningley Bypass near Swinnow Lane for resurfacing will take place on Monday, August 24 (8pm–5am) and Tuesday, August 25 (8pm–5am).

From today, the New Pudsey Station bus stop (ID: 45023447) will also be temporarily suspended for eight weeks while works are carried out to construct a new stop. Passengers are asked to use the nearby stop on Bradford Road (A647) westbound (ID: 45013512) during this period.
