The diversion will run via A658 Pool Bank New Road, A659 Arthington Lane, A61 Harrogate Road and A6120 ring road in both directions at the A660/A6120 Lawnswood Roundabout.

A Yorkshire Water spokesperson said: “We're working as quickly as we can to repair the burst. For the safety of our colleagues and those living and working in the area, we need to close the road whilst we complete the repair and following reinstatement.

“We appreciate that this will be disruptive and would like to apologise and thank everyone for their patience.”

The YEP understands that Yorkshire Water’s contract partners, M Group are likely to be working overnight to complete the repair as quickly as possible.

Leeds Road will be re-opened as soon as it is safe to do so.
