Rush hour delays expected at Leeds City Station due to fault between London and Peterborough
Those looking to make a quick getaway for the Bank Holiday weekend will have to contend with delays on the railway lines this afternoon
Passengers travelling through Leeds City Station face major disruptions and delays of up to 80 minutes today following severe damage to overhead electric wires on the main line.
LNER has confirmed that northbound services between London King's Cross and Peterborough are heavily disrupted after overhead wires were damaged in the New Barnet area.
The incident has left one northbound line completely blocked, forcing trains to share a single remaining track or divert via Hertford.

Network Rail also confirmed that the disruption will continue until the end of the day and because the complex repair work must be carried out overnight, the line will remain an issue throughout the Friday evening Bank Holiday rush.
To keep traffic moving, the blocked line is being temporarily reopened specifically for LNER's bi-mode Azuma trains, which are switching to their diesel engines to bypass the damaged area.
However, major delays, short-notice alterations, and cancellations are expected to persist until the end of service.
Passengers are strongly urged to check their specific journeys before traveling to Leeds City Station this evening.
Passengers whose journeys are delayed or disrupted by today's incidents may be entitled to compensation - National Rail and LNER operate a Delay Repay scheme, which allows travellers to claim money back if a train is delayed by 15 minutes or more.
Those who face disruptions are advised to keep their physical travel tickets or digital booking receipts and submit their claims directly through the LNER or relevant train operating company's website within 28 days of the disrupted journey.
