Leeds Festival 2026: Train disruption hit Scottish revellers heading to Bramham Park

Festivalgoers heading from Scotland and the North East to Leeds Festival 2026 face cancellations and severe delays today following a power supply failure on the East Coast Main Line

Festivalgoers travelling down from Scotland and the North East for Leeds Festival 2026 are facing significant travel disruption following an electricity supply failure on the East Coast Main Line.

Lines between Alnmouth and Newcastle were blocked earlier today after power supplies failed, leaving services running southbound towards Leeds Station delayed, cancelled, or revised.

Both LNER and CrossCountry operate key routes from Edinburgh, Aberdeen, and Berwick-upon-Tweed down to West Yorkshire, and both operators have warned of ongoing delays and altered timetables.

Alternative routes and ticket acceptance

To help revellers reach Bramham Park, rail operators have put reciprocal ticket acceptance in place across several networks:

  • CrossCountry & LNER: Tickets are being accepted on alternative routes, including Avanti West Coast (via Glasgow/Carlisle to Manchester or London Euston) and TransPennine Express.
  • Rail Replacement Services: Replacement buses have been requested to run between Edinburgh and Newcastle to bridge the blocked section of the route.
  • Travel Flexibility: LNER is permitting Friday ticket holders to defer travel until Saturday, August 29 if necessary.

Passengers making it into Leeds Station are reminded that official First Bus shuttle services to Bramham Park are running continuously from Sovereign Street in the city centre throughout the day.

Travellers are urged to check the National Rail Journey Planner before setting off and to retain all paper or digital tickets to claim Delay Repay compensation.
