M62 traffic latest: major delays after crash shut most of the motorway between Leeds and Manchester
A multi-vehicle crash is continuing to cause major disruption between Leeds and Manchester.
Drivers who are heading westbound on the motorway this afternoon (March 19) faced huge delays. Three lanes were shut as a result of the accident, but have since re-opened - although the delays remain very lengthy.
During the crash, a car overturned and one person was taken to hospital, Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust has said.
In a post on social media at 1.15pm, Highways England: Yorkshire warned: “Lanes 2,3 and 4 are CLOSED on the M62 westbound between J26 near Cleckheaton and J25 near Brighouse due to a multi vehicle collision.

“Emergency services are on scene. There is currently 3 miles of congestion on approach.”
In an update just after 1.40pm, it was confirmed that the lanes have now been re-opened, but the delays are continuing.
Highways England: Yorkshire wrote: “All lanes are now OPEN on the #M62 westbound between J26 near #Cleckheaton and J25 near #Brighouse following a multi vehicle collision.
“Please allow extra time if travelling in the area as delays of 45 mins remain. Thanks for your patience.”
