Major update about CrossCountry RMT train strike
A series of planned strike action on CrossCountry trains has been called off.
Travellers are being advised that normal services will now operate on Saturday, December 6, and subsequent Saturdays in December after strike action was called off by the RMT union.
But passengers are being warned that this Saturday will see CrossCountry services between Derby and the North East and Scotland extended by up to an hour due to engineering work in the Chesterfield area.
CrossCountry’s managing director, Shiona Rolfe, said: “We are pleased that RMT has called off planned strike action throughout December, and we look forward to welcoming passengers on board to take them into the festive season.
“We aim to run our normal timetable on Saturday, but the short time available to reinstate services means there may be some short-notice cancellations.
“Engineering work on parts of the network will still mean some changes to journeys – if you’re planning to travel, please check your journey before setting off.”
