Temporary traffic lights planned for A64 York Road as six months of gas works begin
Temporary traffic lights will be introduced on a busy Leeds road from next week as six months of gas works begin.
Northern Gas Networks (NGN) will next week begin carrying out essential work to replace ageing metal pipework with new, more durable plastic pipes along the A64 York Road.
From Monday, January 5, temporary two-way traffic lights will be in place starting at the junction with Stockheld Lane, next to Leeds Caravan Centre near Scholes.

The project is expected to last until the middle of June, and as work progresses, the traffic lights will be moved eastbound along the A64/York Road.
The traffic lights will be in operation 24 hours a day, seven days a week, during the work and will be manned during peak hours to reduce disruption.
Matt Purssell, Site Manager at Northern Gas Networks, said: “We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused during these essential works, which we appreciate are taking place in a busy location. However, it’s vital we complete them to continue to maintain a safe and reliable gas supply to the residents of Leeds.
“We’ve worked very closely with Leeds City Council to minimise disruption, and there will be a team on site ensuring the lights are manned during peak periods. We will also have teams working on site seven days a week to complete the project as quickly as possible.
“We will provide regular updates as the project progresses.”
