Overturned lorry leaves West Yorkshire road closed with police on scene

Police are estimating a West Yorkshire road could remain closed for five hours after a lorry overturned underneath a railway bridge.

Police are currently on the scene of the incident on Park Lane in Keighley, between Coney Lane and Parkwood Street.

They advise access to Coney Lane and Parkwood Street is unaffected from their respective sides, but access under the bridge is likely to remain for a large chunk of the day.

Writing on Facebook at 11:16am on Wednesday, January 22, West Yorkshire Police added: “ Police officers on scene are estimating the road will be closed for at least another 5 hours. The vehicle will need to be dragged out from under the bridge before it can be righted and recovered.”

That could have an impact on school run and rush hour traffic in the area, with disruption expected until after 4pm.

In a picture posted to social media by West Yorkshire Police, a HGV can be seen on its side under the bridge, with emergency vehicles and a cordon in place behind.
