The images, shared by the Leeds City Council-run team at Connecting Leeds show the early stages of construction, with crews installing the foundations and structural elements of the underground tank.

This hidden underground structure, which can store up to 650 cubic metres of water, is designed to capture and store rainwater during heavy storms, before releasing it slowly back into the drainage network. Improving drainage resilience along the A647.

It comes as Pudsey Ring Road (A647 Stanningley Bypass), between Richardshaw Lane and Dawsons Corner, is set to shut overnight tonight.

Works will take place from 8pm to 5am tonight (Monday, June 15), into tomorrow, to upgrade the permanent safety barriers around the Wood Nook Tunnel on the northbound carriageway.

Signed diversions will be in place for motorists and access to Owlcotes Shopping Centre will be maintained, although the diversion must be followed during the closures. A contingency night has been scheduled for Tuesday, June 16, into Wednesday, June 17.
