Temporary four-way traffic lights remain in place

Road restrictions are in place after gas engineers completed emergency repairs in Leeds.

Northern Gas Networks (NGN), the gas distributor for the North of England, is carrying out the essential repair work on gas pipes in Rawdon, Leeds.

Temporary four-way traffic lights remain are in place, however, on Harrogate Road, Rawdon, at the junction of Green Lane and Belmont Grove to protect the safety of engineers, members of the public and road users.

Dale Hemingway, Site Manager at NGN, said: “We apologise for the disruption caused by this emergency repair work, however it is essential to keep gas flowing safely and reliably to the residents of Rawdon.

“Our engineers worked around the clock to completed the repair to the pipe earlier. Our teams will now be working to reinstate the road as quickly as possible.

“In the meantime, traffic management will remain in place to ensure everyone’s safety. We recognise that this is a very busy area and ask anyone travelling to Leeds Bradford Airport to allow more time for their journeys until this work is completed.”

Northern Gas Network has now confirmed the work will be completed and temporary traffic lights removed by 7pm today (Friday).

Gas supply to properties and businesses in the Rawdon area is understood not to have been affected.
