Travel chaos at Leeds Bradford Airport as flights diverted due to Storm Boelo
Widespread gusts of 55mph to 65mph are expected across West Yorkshire
High winds from Storm Boelo has forced a number of flights to be diverted away from Leeds Bradford Airport.
A yellow weather warning for severe wind is in place across Leeds and West Yorkshire from 12pm on Saturday (October 24) through to 9pm on Sunday (October 25).
Widespread gusts of 55mph to 65mph are expected across West Yorkshire, with exposed higher ground nearby potentially seeing gusts approaching 70mph.
The Yeadon-based airport is the highest commercial airport in England above sea level - at 208m - so is particularly affected by high winds.
As a result a number of flights to and from Leeds Bradford Airport have been diverted.
An airport spokesperson said: “Our teams on the ground are working hard in challenging weather conditions to support customers and manage the impact of the disruption.
“If you are parked with us and your return flight is delayed, you do not need to contact us. No additional parking charges will apply as a result of the disruption.
“We'd like to thank all customers for their patience and understanding while our teams work through these challenging conditions. We will share further updates as more information becomes available.”
