The roads in Leeds most in need of repairs according to YEP readers
‘The problem may be the quality of repair’
Residents have been having their say on what roads in Leeds are most in need of repair.
As summer approaches, Leeds City Council are doubling their efforts to repairs the city’s roads.
Over 5,000 potholes across the city were repaired in the first three months of 2026, almost tripling the speed of repair from 382 repairs in the first full week of January to a peak of 1,101 repairs in the first week of March. But which of the city’s roads are most in need of repair?

With that in mind, here at the Yorkshire Evening Post we asked our readers to tell us: “The road most in need of repairs in Leeds.” Here’s what they had to say.
Taking to Facbeook, Derek Rimmer said: “The pavement in town particularly around the Merrion Centre and St John's,” while David Stephens said: “Scott Hall Road is getting really bad now.”
Elsewhere, Karen Mollie Sargeant said: “Tong Road leading to Pudsey,” while John Rudge-priestley simple named Scotland Lane in Horsforth as his pick for being repaired.
Daniel KP So questioned the overall standard of repairs and stated: “The problem may be the quality of repair,” while Matt Rich said: “The council seems more interested in repairing the roads that have just been repaired.”
Ten full-time pothole teams have been working extended hours to produce the significant increase in repairs, according to Leeds City Council with 5224 potholes across the city filled as of March 30, 2026.
The increase in repair speed comes after more resources were made available and due to trials of three new pothole-filling technologies, such as Jet Patching, the JCB Pothole Pro, and the Thermal Road Repair systems.
Persistent rainfall in January and February left ground conditions heavily saturated and road surfaces far more vulnerable to sudden deterioration.
