Yorkshire Water issues two Leeds road closure warnings after burst mains

Burst water mains are causing disruption for drivers in Leeds this afternoon.

Yorkshire Water has issued two separate warnings today (December 23) as emergency repairs have led to road closures and traffic light changes across the city.

The key areas affected are:

  • Wellington Street: A temporary single-lane closure is currently in place on the outbound side, heading away from Leeds city centre.
  • Ring Road, Moortown: A temporary three-way traffic light system is operating at the junctions of Moortown Lane, Roman Avenue, and Birchwood Hill.

Contractors are at both sites attending to the burst water mains.

A Yorkshire Water spokesperson said: “[The measures] will be removed as soon as it is safe to do so once the repair and reinstatement of the carriageway is complete.

“We appreciate that this may cause some disruption and would like to thank everyone for their patience as we undertake this work.”
