Road closed and school shut after serious crash on busy road in Yorkshire

A busy road has been closed in Yorkshire and a nearby school shut for the morning following a serious crash.
The A61 Barnsley Road in Wakefield is closed between the turning for Chevet Lane by Three Houses pub and Sandal Castle School on the brow of the hill.
The road has been closed in both directions, however there is still access to Chevet Lane, which remains open.
An email from the school, sent to parents said early years students will start at 12.30pm, years one and two will start at 12.45pm and years three to six will start at 1pm.
Exact details of the incident have yet to be revealed by West Yorkshire Police, who said its officers were attending a serious collision.
