Leeds Bradford Airport: Airline SunExpress suspends route to Antalya and blames 'rising global jet fuel prices'
An airline operating flights for holidaymakers from Leeds Bradford Airport has suspended flights to a destination and blamed “global jet fuel prices”.
SunExpress operates the route from LBA to Antalya, Türkiye.
However, the airline confirmed to The Yorkshire Post it has suspended the flights and is “implementing a series of targeted efficiency measures” to “mitigate the impact of higher operating costs”.
The route has been ‘temporarily suspended’ with no outline to when it may resume.

It is reported the airline has also suspended routes elsewhere from Manchester to Bodrum and Glasgow to Dalaman and Antalya.
In a statement released to The Yorkshire Post, SunExpress said: "In response to rising global jet fuel prices, we are implementing a series of targeted efficiency measures to mitigate the impact of higher operating costs.
“As part of this process, we are optimizing our network and adjusting capacity, and have temporarily suspended our service from Leeds Bradford. We regret any convenience this may cause, and will continue to provide UK travellers with a wide range of flights to Türkiye, including from Manchester and Newcastle."
‘Where possible’, passengers will be offered an alternative flight with SunExpress, the spokesperson said.
Where this is not suitable, passengers will be offered a full refund.
The last flight to Antalya from LBA departed on June 7, it was reported.
The airline will provide further updates when available, they said.
SunExpress operates flights from Birmingham, Bristol, Edinburgh, Gatwick, Heathrow, Stansted, Luton, Manchester and Newcastle.
The Antalya route will continue from other airports including Birmingham, Edinburgh and Gatwick.
