Wakefield Bus Station: Yorkshire bus station evacuated and closed after report of suspicious package

A Yorkshire bus station has reopened after reports of a suspicious package led to a short closure and evacuation.

Earlier this morning (Nov 21), it was reported that a suspicious package was seen at Wakefield Bus Station.

This led to the closure and evacuation of the station, affecting dozens of routes.

Police attended the scene and nothing was found. The bus station reopened at around 10.30am.

However, there are likely to be delays for a number of hours as services return to normal.

A statement from West Yorkshire Police said: “It was a report of a suspicious package, but nothing was found at the location and all was found to be in order.”

“The station reopened at about 10.30am.”
