Two British families have been left devastated after separate swimming pool tragedies while on holiday in Europe.
National news outlets reported that a four-year-old girl drowned in the Spanish resort of Marbella on Saturday morning before a five-year-old boy died in a pool at a villa in the Algarve, Portugal, later on the same day.
Emergency services tried to revive her but the youngster died at the scene.
Emergency services rushed to the scene at a villa at about 4.30pm and he was pulled from the pool but paramedics were unable to save him.
