Another Leeds heatwave could be on the way - the dates temperatures will soar again
A return to the heatwave we saw in June is looking likely for some areas ☀️
Another heatwave could be on the way, after scorching temperatures broke records for the hottest temperatures in June.
Leeds basked in highs of 35C last week, with the warm weather causing widespread disruption, including school closures and train cancellations.
Temperatures this week have since cooled, pleasantly reaching the low to mid 20Cs, offering some much-needed relief. However, the Met Office have reported that there could be another hot spell on the horizon, thanks to high pressure from the Azores making its way across England and Wales.
While a return to the scorching heat is unlikely, temperatures are set to warm up again. Another potential heatwave could be on the way by the end of the week, with the Met Office predicting temperatures to rise this weekend from 23C on Sunday (July 5) to 26C on Monday (July 6).

Tony Wisson, Met Office Deputy Chief Forecaster, said: “Toward the weekend, high pressure will continue to build in across most of the UK as it extends from the Azores. This will lead to more settled, warm or very warm conditions for many, especially across England and Wales, though some rain may still affect the far north.
“The forecast for this weekend suggests that temperatures could approach high 20s°C across parts of England, perhaps 30°C in parts of the southeast, with values of mid to high 20s°C in Wales.”
A return to the heatwave we saw in June is looking likely for some areas; however, it’s unlikely we would see a return to the extreme temperatures or high levels of humidity of last week.
