Leeds weather: Met Office delivers bank holiday weather verdict for Leeds

A first-look weather forecast for the upcoming bank holiday weekend is currently showing a mixed outlook for Leeds.

People across the city will be counting down the days until the extra-long break for Easter. Many residents will get to enjoy four days off work or school starting on Good Friday (April 3).

For those who are planning days out or even wondering if there is the opportunity for a visit to a beer garden, you will want to make sure you know what to expect from the weather. The Met Office has now issued its first forecast for the bank holiday weekend.

The outlook is currently quite mixed with cloudy and rainy weather currently predicted. Good Friday could have light showers through the afternoon with highs of 13C and lows of 6C.

Jumping ahead to Saturday (April 4), the cloudy weather is set to continue but rain is not currently predicted. It will be ever so slightly warmer with highs of 14C but could drop to as cold as 4C.

On Easter Sunday itself (April 5), the sun might even make an appearance in Leeds. There is a chance for sunny intervals for much of the day - after a rainy start overnight.

It will be turning colder on Easter Sunday with highs of just 11C. So don’t put away the big jacket just yet.

The Met Office has also issued a long range forecast from Friday through to mid-April, which promises more of the same.

It reads: “A broad northwest to southeast split is most likely during this period. The northwest is likely to be more unsettled with low pressure systems moving in at times, bringing periods of strong winds and showers or longer spells of rain.

“In the southeast, high pressure will have greater influence, with more settled, drier weather as a result. Temperatures overall are likely to be near to or slightly above normal, but there remains the chance of some overnight frost.”
