Leeds Festival weather: Thunder warning as storms predicted for Leeds Festival - full BBC Weather forecast

Thunder is being predicted for Leeds Festival ⛈️

If you are heading to Leeds Festival this week, you might want to pack your wellies and an umbrella.

After a summer of relentless sunshine and heatwaves, the weather is set to take a turn for the worse just in time for the bank holiday weekend. Festivalgoers are facing a bit of a washout with rain predicted every single day, at least for now.

Music lovers will begin arriving at Bramham Park on Wednesday (August 26) but the weather is looking a bit dicey in the early forecast. Thunder and rain is being predicted, 48 hours before the gates are thrown open.

What is the weather forecast for Leeds Festival?

The early forecast makes for grim-reading for festivalgoers, unfortunately. BBC Weather is predicting a wash out on each day from campers arriving on Wednesday (August 26) to Sunday (August 30), so don’t forget your wellies and a good rain coat!

Currently, the worst day - at least for weather - is expected to arrive on Thursday (August 27) as thunderstorms are now predicted. But the main days are not likely to see thunder at this point, according to the forecast.

When could thunderstorms reach Leeds Festival?

As seen above, the early BBC Weather forecast thunderstorms on Thursday but if you are planning on heading to the festival on that day, you might be wondering what time they are expected to arrive.

The BBC Weather website is currently, as of August 24, predicting that thundery showers from 10am and could continue until 11pm. The highest chance of rain is from 10am to 11pm.

Met Office Deputy Chief Forecaster, Mark Sidaway, said: "While many areas will see dry and increasingly warm conditions at the start of the week, attention is turning to the potential for heavy rain and thunderstorms from Wednesday onwards.

"As warmer and more humid air moves north across the UK, there is an increasing likelihood of some heavy rain developing. Some places could see 20 to 30mm of rain in just a few hours, while there is also the potential for higher totals where thunderstorms repeatedly affect the same locations.

"The detail of which areas will see the heaviest rainfall is still uncertain, so stay up to date with the forecast this week to keep updated on the increasing risk of impactful weather during the latter part of the week."
