Leeds snow: will it snow in the city today? Latest forecast before warmer weather arrives
A spell of wintry showers could bring a last grasp of snow and sleet to Leeds, before the weather finally turns warmer.
The city looks set to enjoy the hottest day of the year at the weekend, according to the Met Office. But first there will be a few more days of winter chill to get through.
Snow warnings are in place for parts of the country today (February 18) and although Leeds is not covered by it, there could still be some flurries. Here’s what to expect over the coming hours.
Will it snow in Leeds today?

The Met Office has put yet more yellow alerts for snow, ice and even rain for large swathes of the UK. Fortunately, Leeds has managed to avoid them for the time being.
The snow warnings are mainly for Wales and central parts of England. However, the latest forecast this morning does show the potential for eight hours of wintry weather across the city in the coming hours.
Sleet showers are currently being predicted from 7pm until the early hours of Thursday (February 19). Whether that will fall more on the rain side or the snowier remains to be seen.
The outlook for today reads: “Dry but cloudy and cold for much of Wednesday, perhaps some brighter spells developing later in the afternoon. The strengthening wind will exacerbate the cold feel. Maximum temperature 5 °C.”
When will it get warmer?
While the cold weather is set to bite back in the coming hours, the outlook over the coming days is much brighter. As previously reported, the hottest day of the year so far is being forecast for the weekend.
Temperatures are set to pick up from Friday (February 20), when it will start to feel much milder. Highs of 13C could be seen on Saturday (February 21) with Tuesday (February 24) expected to get as warm as 14C.
The Met Office outlook for the weekend reads: “Friday, windy with a band of rain and hill snow, turning showery later. Showery and breezy Saturday and Sunday. Turning much milder.”
