Warm weather can occur at the start of autumn - with the phenomenon known as an Indian Summer leading to temperatures remaining around 20C or even higher.

Leeds is due for a couple of warmer days over the next 48 hours before temperatures start to slide. The Met Office is predicting that Monday (September 14) will be the warmest day of the coming week.

The forecast for the next six days, according to the forecaster, is as follows:

  • Saturday, September 12 - Light rain - 21C highs, 14C lows
  • Sunday, September 13 - Sunny intervals - 21C highs, 15C lows
  • Monday, September 14 - Sunny intervals - 23C highs, 15C lows
  • Tuesday, September 15 - Sunny intervals - 18C highs, 12C lows
  • Wednesday, September 16 - Sunny intervals - 17C highs, 13C lows
  • Thursday, September 17 - Light showers - 16C highs, 12C lows
  • Friday, September 18 - Sunny intervals - 17C highs, 13C lows

Looking further ahead into the next week, The Met Office predicts: “Remaining changeable, with occasional rain or showers arriving from the North Atlantic, most frequent across northern and western parts of the UK, where some strong winds will also be possible at times.

“However, there will also be some reasonably dry and more settled periods interspersed, especially across southern areas.

“Temperatures for the period as a whole will probably be close to average overall, but there is scope for some rather warm days at times, along with occasional relatively cool nights giving the occasional grass frost.”

Heading into the end of September and the early days of October, the forecaster adds: “Most likely remaining changeable, with further spells of rain and showers arriving from the North Atlantic.

“Strong winds possible too at times, these most frequent across the north and west. Some short-lived settled spells are also possible, these most likely in the south. Temperatures for the period as a whole will probably be close to average overall.”
