West Yorkshire households could save on energy bills with new group-buying scheme
The first part of the scheme was launched in 2024
West Yorkshire Mayor Tracy Brabin has launched new support to help homeowners and businesses in the region reduce their energy bills.
The second round of the Mayor’s group-buying scheme allows homeowners and businesses to access energy-saving improvements such as solar panels, battery storage systems and electric vehicle charging points at a lower price by buying in bulk.

The programme launched in 2024 and has already helped more than 600 households across the region, according to West Yorkshire Combined Authority (WYCA).
Some residents who took part in the first round have earned up to £13 a day by selling unused electricity back to the grid, according to the authority.
The scheme forms part of Home Energy West Yorkshire, which offers advice and support to homeowners, renters and landlords across Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees, Leeds and Wakefield.
“I’m committed to everyone having a warm, safe, and secure place to call home. That’s why we're making it easier for people to access support to improve their home,” the mayor said.
“This is vital, practical action that will help households reduce their energy bills, keeping more money in their pocket.
"Home Energy West Yorkshire is helping us deliver warmer, better quality homes that are fit for the future."
The scheme runs from September 15 to October 2, 2026.
People can also get free, impartial advice in person at a Home Energy West Yorkshire pop-up service at Bradford Interchange every Wednesday and Thursday until November 12.
More information and details on how to sign up can be found on the Home Energy West Yorkshire website.
