The plug-in indoor camera can pan and tilt around a room, helping owners check on pets through the Blink app while away from home.
A rotating indoor security camera that lets owners check on pets from almost anywhere has fallen below £17 in a limited-time Amazon deal.
The Blink Mini Pan-Tilt Camera is currently £16.99, down from its £34.99 RRP. That represents a 51% saving of £18 on the white model with one camera and the motorised Pan-Tilt mount.
Unlike a standard indoor camera with a fixed field of view, the discounted Blink camera can move from side to side and tilt up or down. Users control its position through the Blink app, providing 360-degree coverage and making it easier to follow a wandering pet around the room.
That could be particularly useful for checking whether the dog is snoozing peacefully, the cat is climbing somewhere it knows it should not, or a suspiciously quiet puppy is redesigning a cushion.
The camera streams HD video to a compatible smartphone or tablet, with infrared night vision allowing owners to continue checking the room after dark. As this is an indoor plug-in model, it needs to remain connected to a power socket rather than relying on rechargeable batteries.
Motion detection provides real-time alerts through the Blink app. If movement is picked up while the owner is away, they can open the live view and use two-way audio to speak through the camera.
As well as reassuring pets, that feature may prove helpful when communicating with family members or warning an unexpected visitor that somebody is keeping an eye on the house. It should not be considered a replacement for a professionally installed alarm system, but it offers a simple way to add visibility to a room.
The Blink Mini Pan-Tilt Camera also works with Alexa. When connected to a compatible screened Alexa device, users can ask to display the live camera feed without reaching for their phone. Voice controls can also be used for functions including arming and disarming the camera.
Installation is designed to be straightforward. The package includes one Blink Mini camera, a Pan-Tilt mount, USB cable and power adaptor. Owners plug it in, connect it to Wi-Fi and complete the set-up process through the Blink app.
One cost to consider is video storage. Live viewing and alerts are useful on their own, but anyone wanting to save and share recorded clips will need either a Blink Subscription Plan or compatible local storage equipment.
The camera includes a free 30-day trial of the subscription service. Alternatively, footage can be stored locally using a Blink Sync Module 2 and USB drive, but both are sold separately. Buyers should check the current subscription prices and exactly which features remain available without a plan before ordering.
Amazon customers have awarded the rotating Blink indoor camera an average score of 4.4 out of five stars from more than 2,900 ratings. More than 300 were reportedly bought during the past month, and the retailer has labelled it Amazon’s Choice.
At £16.99, the deal could provide an inexpensive way to keep watch over pets, a hallway or another frequently used room. Its ability to rotate is the standout feature, reducing the chance of an inquisitive animal disappearing just beyond the edge of the picture.
Amazon prices and availability can change without warning. Shoppers should confirm that the £16.99 price applies to the white Blink Mini with Pan-Tilt configuration and review the storage options before checking out.
