Amazon’s £10 rechargeable fan runs for up to 18 hours

A rechargeable handheld fan that can run for up to 18 hours has fallen close to £10 at Amazon, just as warm weather makes staying cool on journeys, at work and in bed rather more challenging.
The TECKNET handheld fan is currently £10.11 in a limited-time deal, down 15% from its previous price of £11.89. Amazon says more than 1,000 have been bought in the past month, while customers have awarded it 4.5 out of five stars from over 500 ratings.
Its 5000mAh rechargeable battery is claimed to provide between five and 18 hours of use, depending on the selected speed. That should make the portable rechargeable fan useful on train journeys, flights, camping trips and days out where a convenient plug socket may be hard to find.
A digital display shows the remaining battery level, helping users judge whether it needs charging before leaving home. This is more useful than the basic warning light fitted to many inexpensive fans, particularly if you plan to rely on it throughout a long journey or warm working day.
The £10 TECKNET fan offers five preset speed settings, which can be selected with a press of its control button. Holding the button enables smoother incremental adjustment, allowing the airflow to be tuned more precisely rather than jumping between the five main levels.
Although the Amazon title refers to “1-100 speed”, the manufacturer’s product information lists five selectable settings alongside this stepless adjustment. Buyers should therefore view the figure as an adjustment scale rather than 100 separate preset modes.
A 150-degree folding mechanism gives the handheld cooling fan more uses than its name might suggest. It can be held normally, folded to stand on a desk or bedside table, or worn using the supplied lanyard when you need to keep both hands free.
At 185g, it should be light enough to carry in a handbag, backpack or suitcase without adding much weight. Its folded measurements are listed as 18cm by 7.2cm by 4cm, making the mini travel fan compact enough for everyday trips and holidays.
