The narrow capsule machine makes espresso and longer coffees, includes automatic shut-off and currently comes with a substantial Amazon saving

Amazon has knocked £43 off a compact Lavazza coffee machine that can serve up an Italian-style espresso at home without taking over the kitchen worktop.

The white Lavazza A Modo Mio Jolie Evo is currently £52 in a limited-time deal, down from its £95 recommended retail price. That represents a 45% saving on a machine designed to keep the process simple, from inserting the capsule to clearing it away afterwards.

It could prove tempting for anyone feeling the pinch whenever they visit a coffee shop. You will still need to buy compatible capsules, of course, but the reduced Lavazza Jolie Evo offers a comparatively affordable way to start making espresso and longer coffees at home.

Space is often one of the biggest concerns when adding another appliance to a kitchen. Measuring 33cm deep, 12.4cm wide and 21cm tall, this compact capsule coffee machine is particularly narrow and should slip into spots that would be too tight for many traditional espresso machines.

Its 0.6-litre transparent water tank allows you to see when a refill is approaching, while the adjustable cup rest has two height settings. It can also be removed, giving the Lavazza machine room to accommodate different cup sizes.

Coffee is controlled through a backlit stop and go button, allowing the user to choose how much water passes through the capsule. That makes it possible to prepare either a short espresso or a longer drink without navigating complicated menus.

Used capsules are ejected automatically into an internal drawer, which holds around four or five before it needs emptying. The button also indicates when that drawer is full, helping to prevent an unpleasant surprise when the next capsule goes in.

The A Modo Mio Jolie Evo only works with Lavazza A Modo Mio capsules, so it is worth checking pod availability and prices before ordering. It is not compatible with every capsule format, and households already committed to another pod system may find switching less convenient.

Lavazza says 36% of the machine’s plastic is recycled, while its packaging is plastic-free and fully recyclable. There is also a useful energy-saving feature: the espresso machine enters standby after two minutes of inactivity and switches itself off automatically.

Reviews provide some extra reassurance for anyone unfamiliar with the model. The Lavazza Jolie Evo deal carries an average score of 4.5 out of five stars from more than 100 Amazon ratings. It has also received an Amazon’s Choice badge, with more than 100 bought during the past month at the time the offer was spotted.

This is not a bean-to-cup machine and it will not steam milk for cappuccinos by itself. Its appeal lies in its small footprint, uncomplicated controls and access to Lavazza’s capsule range.

Amazon describes the £52 price as a limited-time deal, so there is no stated guarantee it will remain available. Anyone interested should check the current price, delivery details and capsule compatibility before ordering.
