It’s not just summer heat that can leave you throwing off the duvet at 2am

A good night’s sleep can be hard enough to come by, but waking up feeling too hot can make it even harder to settle back down. For some women going through perimenopause and menopause, overheating at night can be an all-year-round problem rather than something that only happens during a summer heatwave.

The sleep brand Simba has launched HeatRelease, a new cooling technology exclusive to Simba in the UK. It has been designed to draw excess body heat away from the sleeper, helping to create a cooler sleeping environment throughout the night.

It’s important to say that the HeatRelease can’t fix menopause symptoms or prevent hot flushes. Instead, it’s about tackling one part of the problem for anyone who finds themselves getting too warm in bed.

Simba says its precision graphite cooling strips work alongside graphite-infused Simbatex® foam and its breathable spring architecture to draw excess heat away from the body within 20 minutes.

According to the brand, the HeatRelease technology can keep sleepers up to 4.4°C cooler and maintain an ideal sleep temperature for up to eight hours. That could be particularly interesting for women who find themselves throwing the duvet off in the middle of the night, opening a window in winter or waking up feeling clammy and uncomfortable.

And cooling your sleep environment isn’t just about dealing with a British heatwave. If you regularly feel too warm at night, having a mattress designed with temperature regulation in mind could make your bed feel more comfortable whatever the season.

Simba’s cooling approach also includes breathable materials and airflow through its spring system, while the HeatRelease technology is designed to take things further by actively drawing excess heat away.

Of course, a mattress isn’t going to solve every reason you might wake during the night, and it shouldn’t be viewed as a treatment for menopause-related night sweats. But for hot sleepers looking for ways to make their bedroom more comfortable, HeatRelease is an interesting new addition to the cooling mattress market.
