As a mum to an eight-year-old, I’m always looking for affordable days out.

Keeping kids entertained during half-term can be difficult, especially when you want to find something fun to do that does not cost a fortune. As a mum to an eight-year-old son, I am always on the lookout for days out that will keep him happy while giving us the chance to make some memories together.

That is why I was pleased to discover a deal on The Original Tour, offering 20% off adult and child tickets with the code FESTIVELONDON. With its Kids’ Tours running daily from 24 October to 1 November, it could be just the thing for families looking for an October half-term adventure.

My son would love the chance to explore London from the top deck of a classic open-top double-decker bus. The 45-minute live-guided tour is designed especially for younger visitors, with lively storytelling, fun facts and interactive commentary to help bring the capital’s history to life.

Rather than trying to keep a child interested while walking between landmarks, this gives little explorers the chance to sit back, spot famous sights and hear the stories behind them. The route includes iconic London landmarks such as Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament and Buckingham Palace.

For me, one of the biggest attractions is the opportunity to turn a day out into something that works around family life. My husband works in London, so we could spend the day exploring the city with our son before meeting up with Dad when he finishes work in the evening.

The London tour also seems practical for families, with space for prams and buggies downstairs, snacks welcome on board and free tickets for children under two.The bus depart from Charles II Street, beside His Majesty’s Theatre, and families are advised to arrive at least 10 minutes early. Seats are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

The 20% discount on adult and child tickets is available using code FESTIVELONDON from 12 October. With the Kids’ Tours running throughout half-term, this is one London day out I would be tempted to add to our family plans.
