Thousands of motorists drive past this west Leeds landmark every day. And in the early 1970s the reservoir which runs parallel to the ring road at Farnley and Pudsey Road was being developed. The photo is one of 10 intriguing images which make up a gallery of memories charting the decade in the life of Farnley and its residents. Other stand-out memories featured in the collection include a local thoroughfare described in the book 'When the Streets Were Lit by Gas' by Philip Croft Tordoff as a 'little lane just off the main road at Farnley'. The images are a mix from the YEP archive and others published courtesy of photographic archive Leodis, which is run by Leeds Library & Information Service. They also run heritage blog The Secret Library Leeds, which provides a behind the scenes look at the Central Library and highlights from its special collections, including rare books hidden away in the stacks
