These wonderful photos showcase memories from around Leeds at the back end of the 1970s. They turn back the clock to 1978 and bring into focus a range of city centre landmarks as well as memories from the suburbs with Pudsey, Halton, Burley, Woodhouse, Otley, Armley, Chapeltown, Colton all featured. It was a year of sporting success for the city as Leeds RL won the Challenge Cup final at Wembley. A familiar face also returned to Elland Road while the cricket family mourned the death of a local legend. The images are a mix from the YEP archive and others published courtesy of photographic archive Leodis, which is run by Leeds Library & Information Service. They also run heritage blog The Secret Library Leeds, which provides a behind the scenes look at the Central Library and highlights from its special collections, including rare books hidden away in the stacks.
