It was the year your Yorkshire Evening Post launched a campaign aimed at protecting the city’s rich brewing history. 2004 marked the end of an era as Tetley was dropped from the Carlsberg-Tetley name six years after being taken over by the Danish brewing giant prompting the paper’s ‘Keep Tetley’s A Yorkshire Pint’. It was a news story which dominated the news agenda during the 12 months. This collection of photos charts the year in the life of your Leeds using photos from the YEP archive. City centre memories are in focus as well as those from around the suburbs with Otley, Chapeltown, Moortown, Burmantofts, Guiseley and Roundhay Park among those under the spotlight.
