It was a league which boasted a Premier League referee among its ranks. Mick Stoddart was a familiar face as the man in black officiating in the West Yorkshire League back in the 1990s. This gallery of memories features the teams which competed all in the different divisions featuring clubs from Leeds, Wakefield and beyond during the decade. Teams featured include Burmantofts Amateurs, Mount St Mary's, Armley Athletic, Ossett Common Rovers, Swillington Miners Welfare, Eastmoor, Headingley Rangers, Whitkirk Wanderers, Barwick and Knaresborough Town. The photos, plucked from the Yorkshire Evening Post archive, are sure to evoke memories for a generation of footballers from back in the day.
