These photos capture Leeds in a state of flux during the late 60s.
As the swinging 60s came to an end, this retro picture gallery shows some of the big changes taking place around the city.
Rubble is seen piled high as Victorian back-to-back houses are demolished to make way for more modern homes.
Children are shown playing in the streets as washing hung between houses flutters in the breeze above.
Lost pubs pictured in this retro gallery include the White Horse, Leeds Arms, and the Fishermans Hut, while you probably remember some of the shops featured, like Dolcis and Woolworths.
Pupils are shown in the school playground, with one of the old gasometers, which used to be such a feature of the skyline, looming in the background.
The film star Jayne Mansfield lends a sprinkling of stardust to these fascinating black-and-white images, too, being pictured during a visit to Armley Jail with her beloved chihuahuas.
And Leeds United fans will appreciate the glimpse of Elland Road as it looked during the glory years, with club legend Billy Bremner seen in full flow on the hallowed turf.
There’s much more to be seen in this look back at life in Leeds as it was in the late 60s.
Do these photos bring back any happy memories for you, and what do you think of how the city has changed over the last six decades?
