These photos are sure to evoke memories for a generation of students who went to Leeds Thomas Danby College back in the day. Thousands of 16 to 18 year olds young people enrolled on further education courses which proved a stepping stone to careers in catering and hairdressing. The College opened in 1970 and was named after the first Mayor of Leeds, Captain Thomas Danby of Farnley. In April 2009 it merged with Park Lane College and the Leeds College of Technology to form the new Leeds City College. These photos plucked from the Yorkshire Evening Post archive showcase the achievements of students and bring into focus life on campus.
